Hi! My name is Janessa Green and I am the Elementary Principal and the Activities Director for Northland Community Schools. I am so excited to be on this journey with this extraordinary community. I cannot wait to dive into the world of academics and extracurricular activities with all of these amazing students and staff. This year is my third as a school administrator, and I am energized to continue to develop my leadership skills and contribute to the NCS community. Before coming here, I worked as an Executive Director of a charter school in Bemidji. Prior to my work in administration, I taught for several years, in varying grades, 2nd-6th, at the American Indian Magnet School in St. Paul, Ponemah School in the Red Lake School District, and then a new charter school in Bemidji. 
As an educator, I am passionate about my commitment to three things: high levels of student achievement, developing well-rounded individuals, and establishing a partnership with home and school. I have dedicated my career to supporting students to help them become better citizens and teach them to successfully navigate life after school. As a school leader, I am an advocate and supporter for all staff and students and will encourage and challenge them to be their very best. 
 
More personally, I grew up in Park Rapids and have recently moved back with my husband and 3 young kids. We are excited to be part of this amazing community and cannot wait to see what this year brings!
