Meet the Activities Director

Janess Green playing college basketball at Penn State

Hi! My name is Janessa Green and the Activities Director at Northland Community Schools. As a student I attended Park Rapids Area High School. During my time there, I was a three-sport athlete, as well as participated in many different choir groups and competitions. I was a varsity middle hitter for 4 years in volleyball, as well as played first base and pitcher in softball for 2 years. I played basketball and joined the 2,000 point and 1,000 rebound club during my 4 years on varsity. I also had the privilege to be a Miss Minnesota basketball candidate and Gatorade Minnesota Player of the Year.

I went to college at Penn State and played on the Lady Lion Basketball team. I continued to put academics first and received the Academic Achievement Award each year, was an Academic All-Big Ten choice, as well as Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award honoree.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, I worked as a 4th grade teacher and the Middle School basketball coach for three seasons at the American Indian Magnet School in St. Paul. After moving back to northern Minnesota and starting my family, I pushed pause on athletics and activities to focus on my family and career in education.

I am extremely excited to get back into the world of sports and support student athletes and extracurricular activities. Activities and sports played a huge part of my life as a student, and I am thrilled to use extracurriculars to empower students
