About The Teacher
I'm glad to be back at Northland! I'm a Bemidji State University graduate in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood emphasis. I continued with my education and became certified to teach Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disabilities, and Teacher-Coordinator of Work Based Learning Programs. I began my teaching career in the Head Start program, working with children and families in 1994. Next, I worked for the Greenway School District, teaching children with Specific Learning Disabilities and Emotional Behavioral Disabilities. I also worked as Teacher/Coordinator of Work Based Learning in my final year there. I started with the Northland Remer district at the Alternative Learning Center, then was fortunate to follow Mary Ann Toothman when she retired. Throughout my educational career, I have worked with children pre-K to grade 12.
This past year, I've had the opportunity to do personal development training in the areas of Dyslexia and AddVantage Math Recovery (AVMR). I look forward to these trainings because they help me to hone my skills, making me a better teacher for your child. I've included a new link for dyslexia resources (see "Links" below). Additionally, I've added one for ADHD (ADDitudemag.com) and one for learning and behavior resources (Understood.org).
I really enjoy working with your children and being an elementary special education teacher at Northland! I always want parents of my students to know they can contact me at any time with any questions or concerns they have. We are a team and I value the knowledge and insights you have about your children. They're pretty special to me!
